About PXLA

PXLA builds modern IT, software, AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and business technology solutions for organizations of all sizes. PXLA QR is one of PXLA's free tools — built to be genuinely useful on its own, and to give people a firsthand look at the kind of clean, reliable software PXLA builds for clients. Learn more about PXLA's broader work at pxla.com.

Why is PXLA QR free?

PXLA QR has no account system, no subscription, and no usage limits, and that's a deliberate design choice rather than a limited trial of something bigger. Because QR code generation happens entirely in your browser (see Is Generation Client-Side?), there's no per-use server cost to PXLA for running it — the tool doesn't get more expensive to operate as more people use it, which removes the usual business pressure to eventually paywall or limit a free tool. It exists as a straightforward, well-built utility that reflects well on PXLA's engineering, and a genuinely useful resource for anyone who needs a QR code.

No premium tier, no upsell

PXLA QR's V1 doesn't mention or plan for a paid tier. If that changes in a future version, it would be a distinct, clearly communicated decision — not a bait-and-switch on what's free today. See our decision log context on this in the Static vs Dynamic article.

What's next for PXLA QR

V1 is intentionally minimal by design: paste a URL, generate a code, download it. A few directions are being considered for future versions, though none are committed or scheduled:

  • SVG or vector export, in addition to PNG.
  • Logo overlay support, built with proper error-correction and coverage safeguards — see Can I Add a Logo? for why this isn't a simple addition.
  • Color customization directly within the generator.
  • Batch or bulk QR code generation for multiple URLs at once.

Consistent with why the tool is free today, any future feature that would require an account, stored data, or ongoing infrastructure cost is being weighed carefully against the core promise of a fast, private, no-sign-up tool — not added by default just because it's technically possible.

Contact support

If you run into a problem this Help Center doesn't answer, or want to report an issue with PXLA QR specifically, reach out through PXLA's contact page. For general troubleshooting first, our Troubleshooting guide covers the most common scanning, printing, and generation issues and their fixes.

Is PXLA QR a separate company from PXLA?

No — PXLA QR is a free tool built and maintained by PXLA, not a separate product or company.

Will PXLA QR start charging in the future?

There's no plan to introduce a paid tier for the current feature set. Because generation is entirely client-side, the tool has no meaningful per-user operating cost that would create pressure to monetize the core experience.

How do I request a feature?
